As some of you may already know the 417 Project is really proud to have Superstar Components on board. Superstar are the sponsors of the downhill trails on site at the 417 Project and have been hugely supportive throughout the last few months of our development. We thought we’d shine a spot light on to them for a blog post – giving you a bit more info on Superstar Components; a deeper look into the heart and soul of who they are and what they are all about….
Superstar’s ‘big idea’ was to provide people who love bikes as much as they do with products at a fair and affordable price with zero compromise on quality.
Superstar Components was started in 2006 with a single aim: cut out the middleman and sell high quality parts direct to customers at sensible prices. You can only get Superstar parts from their website, so you know your getting a great deal. They have grown from humble beginnings selling brake pads from a bedroom, to a biker run company with 5 warehouses and lots of staff. They offer a wide range of products for both mountain and road bikes, building all our wheels in-house and CNC machining parts in the UK.
Everyone who works for Superstar has a real passion for bikes and cycling, so you can trust their parts have been tested in real life conditions. They are always on hand to answer any questions you have and offer advice if you are unsure what you need, or can’t decide between two options – they want you to get the most out of our gear.
When Superstar started it was their dream to manufacture parts in the UK and their manufacturing facility is now up and running. Putting design, prototyping, programming and manufacturing under one roof means they can offer an even wider range of products, keep them in stock, and still offer great value for money.
Their manufacturing dream has only been possible because they invested in the best equipment and the best people to help make the most of what they had. They use aerospace quality materials and equipment, It’s simple really, great stuff in = great stuff out.
All of their wheels are built in the UK using the best equipment in the world. They work with Holland Mechanics who are market leaders in wheel-building machinery. The computer uses direct drive torque readings and 3 lasers to know exactly what is happening at every point of the rim, so they are able to know every single wheel is built within 0.2mm accuracy, with zero spoke twist and even spoke tension.
While they are big enough to create cool products, they are still small enough to care. Superstar Components was set up because they like to ride bikes, they build wheels because they like cool equipment, and there are actual humans on the other end of your emails – who are just as passionate about riding as you… so maybe you can’t see their faces, but they’re there to help you, advise you and ensure you get the most out of your ride regardless.
Here’s a slice of what they offer:
- Fast shipping from the warehouse with Royal mail or UPS Courier.
- Brake pad trial: 45 days from purchase to decide if you’re 100% happy with your pads. If not, they’ll give you your money back, and advise on what might work better for your riding style.
- Free wheel truing for life for the original owner, and crash rebuild deals.
- Spare parts backup: they hold lots of spares for all of their products and if an item is discontinued they can always offer alternatives at a great price.
